FIS-215 Fire Service Academy I
This course provides an introduction to the Fire Service Academy and prepares students for courses II through V in the Fire Academy series. The course will cover the following areas: an introduction to the various careers related to the Fire Service, the history and development of public fire protection services, and the relationship of departmental functions to other governmental agencies. The course will provide an overview of the various skills and knowledge needed to function as a firefighter in the Fire Service. Objectives for this course were developed based on training objectives prescribed by the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM), and the codes and standards established by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
