CIS-117 Information Systems and Technologies

This course provides an overview of computer hardware, software, networks, and the internet for students entering the information technology field or for non-technical majors pursuing careers such as business, sales and marketing, and multimedia communications. Other topics include operating system software and utilities, file management, programming, basic web page development, data security and privacy issues, and leveraging IT to enhance both personal computer use and business operations. Students with little or no computer experience are strongly encouraged to enroll in CIS-100, Computer and Internet Basics, prior to or concurrent with CIS-117. Fee is required. (4 contact hours)
