EMS-101 Emergency Medical Technician
This course provides instruction for students to the level of Emergency Medical Technician-Basic. The course emphasizes skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level. Fifty hours of clinical experience is included in course requirements, including time assigned to emergency room, and ambulance. Upon successful completion of EMS-101, students are eligible to challenge the NREMT exam. Fee is required. (17 contact hours)
Prerequisite
Evidence of age 17 years or older.
RDG-088 or
RDG-089 with a minimum grade of "C" or appropriate score on reading placement test.
Corequisite
Valid CPR for Healthcare Providers card; completed History and Physical Form, including drug screen, tuberculosis testing and immunizations; satisfactory completion of a criminal background check; evidence of personal health insurance. Must be completed during semester.
