Surveys ancient times to the present, providing an overview of African people and their culture in the Orient, the Iberian peninsula and the African continent. Addresses major issues such as the impact of European expansionism, imperialism and colonialism; the growth of secularism and commercialism; and the emergence of national sovereignty, cultural hegemony and self-determination.
